Phoenix Mercury vs Atlanta Dream: Injury updates, where to watch game

The Phoenix Mercury (15-7) welcome back former No. 1 overall pick Brittney Griner in their first meeting against the Atlanta Dream (13-10) on Wednesday, July 23, at PHX Arena.

And the Mercury will nearly be at full strength.

Stars Kahleah Copper (hamstring) and Satou Sabally (ankle) returned to practice for the first time in weeks after both missed four games with their respective injuries. The Mercury's big 3 of Copper, Sabally and Alyssa Thomas have played only six games together.

Guard Lexi Held will also return after missing eight games following a scary pneumothorax injury — a partially collapsed right lung — on June 19 in New York. Due to Held's condition, she wasn't cleared to fly and had to travel by train with team physical therapist Ashley Lea to return to Phoenix.

I haven’t had a break in four years because I played overseas and it was trying to see any positives out of this craziness," Held said. "Rest for the body is never a bad thing, but I was trying to mentally stay in the moment and stay present.”

Center Kalani Brown is probable with a right knee injury, while starting point guard Monique Akoa Makani is out because of a concussion suffered July 14 against the Golden State Valkyries.
