There's been an incredible amount of controversy in Columbus -- for various, myriad reasons. The latest isn't just that the Buckeyes are upset that the Ohio State vs. Texas game is at noon, but that Fox hired Barstool Sports 'el presidente' Dave Portnoy, and outspoken Michigan alum, for Big Noon Kickoff.
On Saturday morning, Portnoy made his Big Noon Kickoff debut, in Columbus, Ohio, and it was something of a rollicking start. And something that Michigan football fans will enjoy, but probably not self-proclaimed Buckeye Nation.
Portnoy posted the excerpt from his Fox debut on X (formerly Twitter). You can see it below.
Portnoy is certainly something of a firebrand. While he proclaims he's rooting for the Big Ten over the SEC, even that feels like a little bit of a jab -- as Ohio State, in his mind, is irrelevant given their four straight losses in the Michigan rivalry.
There had been controversy surrounding Portnoy and his Columbus appearance, with a report indicating that Ohio State had barred him from entering The Horseshoe. OSU AD Ross Bjork denied it, claiming it was Fox's idea, but Portnoy blasted Bjork and the Buckeyes, noting that he also wasn't allowed to host his Barstool Sports show in Columbus as planned.
Ohio State is set to host Texas at noon while Michigan football will host New Mexico at 7:36 p.m. EDT at The Big House.
