Wednesday night, Pivetta shut out Cincinnati on four hits and one walk with eight strikeouts over seven innings. The Padres were ahead 1–0 when he departed but gave up two runs in the eighth.
Pivetta personally has a 4–3 record since the All-Star break and 13–5 overall. The Padres are 17–12 in his 29 starts, but have lost in three of his last four outings although Pivetta has given up seven runs (six earned) over 24 innings for a 2.25 ERA.
